Weighing the lead

Yesterday we put some ox cheek in the Dutch Oven with a pile of veg, some beef stock and a healthy glut of red wine and left it on the wood burner to chug for about 6 hours and then overnight on the side. Back on the heat today for an hour to warm up and it was the most magnificent of lunches with which to send off our guests on their way home.

Before that there was a visit to the lead mining museum and a trip down the mine which is always a fine way to spend an hour or so.
