Rodney's Pillar, erected in 1781.

The pillar was erected in recognition of Sir George Brydges Rodney's involvement with the British Navy. Amongst other battles, he was involved in the American War of Independence in the 18th century.

The Welsh slate plaque shown in the extra photo, indicates landmarks in Shropshire and the Welsh Borders. It was erected in 1997 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Welshpool Rotary Club.
