Plectranthus 2

When Adelaide was first settled in the 1830's, there was Adelaide, and a whole string of small townships and villages.  Most of these are now suburbs and have become part of the Adelaide Metro area (population around 1.3 million).  Because of all these small townships along the way, it still has a country town feel about it; doesn't feel like a city at all.

However, it does spread over an enormous area.  Adelaide stretches 20 km (12 mi) from the coast to the foothills, and 100 km (60 mi) from north to south.

So, to get to the point of this story, yesterday we drove 30 km from Belair to Tea Tree Gully, to visit a garden nursery to cash in a $100 voucher which I won at the last Rose Show.  Belair is in the City of Mitcham and Tea Tree Gully is in the City of Tea Tree Gully, but we are both in Adelaide.

Newman's Nursery has been going since 1856, and in this present location since 1913.  It is a showpiece, and arguably the best nursery in Adelaide.
