The cat's whiskers

Miserably grey and drizzly the last couple of days -- like British weather! Having the fire lit in April just seems wrong. I'm glad we had our walk on the one sunny day, because I skipped the Tuesday walk today; it wouldn't have been a pleasure. Hence the EBCB*.

Yesterday afternoon we went to the cinema to see Dany Boon's new film, La Ch'tite Famille. It's not a sequel to the massively successful Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis, but it has many of the same actors and the same gentle humour -- albeit mostly not laugh-out-loud funny. At first Dany appeared to be playing massively agains type as a swanky Parisian designer, but after a car accident he reverts to his Ch'ti (northern French) origins. He gave the best part to the young actress playing his wife, Laurence Arné, whom I'd never heard of; she starts out as a snobbish, chilly beauty, but turns out to have a soul. Also a very nice cameo from the elderly Pierre Richard, who does a great Johnny Hallyday spoof at the end. It was a pleasant way to spend part of a dull afternoon.
