twinned with trumpton

By MrFT

Sun woke me at first at 7; but I rolled over and slept another 2 hours. Then tea necessity and fire raising featured before we ate breakfast and plotted a course to St Mary's over the barriers and off we went. NE wind meant it was harder work but the return leg promised to be a - erm - breeze?

We wove our way north, stopping and peering at stuff; photos and baulked at the £3 for the Italian Chapel. Previously free. Oh well.

No shop at St Mary's so we back tracked to Burray and managed a coffee in the Sands before hitting the road back along the coast and into Doull's for supplies. And then back up the hill; deposited the rations and off out in search of the obligatory seal. Down the hill to Grimness and sure enough - half a dozen of them lounging around on the rocks. We pottered about before winding our way back up to the top of the hill; for baths and fire and a drink in the sunshine and finally dinner. The day of fresh air and exercise led to deep sleep
