Gumtree Deceiver

... or Laccaria fraterna. Today I've been out with a fungi expert friend to inspect a patch she monitors in Nottinghamshire. A patch with a difference. It is a Eucalyptus  plantation. We found quite a few fungi and this was the most photogenic. I don't often go fungus hunting in the Spring - I normally take a break from them, but I was surprised how many we found. At another location nearby, we spotted a dead grass snake, hanging over some brambles. A bit of a mystery. My friend suggested that it might have been taken then dropped by a Buzzard, of which there were quite a few around. If you don't like snakes, best not to look in extras.
