A collage and a saga...

Dippy on Tour, Dorchester

After yesterday’s travels, a very sleepy Sunday so today just a memory collage and a saga. Please don’t feel the need to read on...

An early start yesterday to catch the 0846 train from my local station, direct to Dorchester. Once onboard, we found out that, due to an earlier breakdown, the train was going to terminate half way at Westbury, and we would have to get off there and wait 1 hour 10 mins for the next train! Instead we jumped ship at Bradford on Avon as I knew of a cosy cafe where we could while away the time, then returned to the station to catch the next train. But... that train was running 20 mins late and by the time it arrived in Dorchester, it was 30 mins late, meaning we were 1 hour 40 mins later arriving than we should’ve been. That wouldn’t have been too much of a problem if we were arriving for the weekend, but as it was only a daytrip, we were only left with two and a half hours to spend in Dorchester! On top of all that, for the first half of our journey to Dorchester, we were joined by a very lively Stag Party, who then left at Yeovil, only to be immediately replaced by an even livelier Hen Party!

Thankfully our return train journey was far less eventful, running on time and inflight entertainment was limited to the last section of the journey when a bunch of merry men joined the train for a Saturday night out in Bath. And thankfully, despite all of the above, Mum still enjoyed her birthday day out in sunny Dorset.

(Thank you for your kind comments and stars for my recent blips, have got behind with replies again. Will catch up asap...)
