Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Schadenfreude

This weeks MonoMonday challenge has the theme "Every picture tells a story".
This was the scene this morning looking south across dunes towards Aberdeen.
In the distance the Pacific Orca is installing a pylon for the new offshore Aberdeen wind farm. This gives me untold pleasure as I am a keen supporter of offshore renewable energy. This is the first of 11 of the world's most powerful turbines, each 200 metres in height,  to be installed at the wind development.
Sitting nearly 1.5 miles off the Aberdeen coastline, the development will  be capable of delivering 70% of Aberdeen’s total electricity demand.

The occasion also brings out a touch of schadenfreude in me because Donald Trump has vehemently opposed the wind farm's construction, unsuccessfully taking legal action against it on three separate occasions, including at the Supreme Court.
The reason that The Donald is against the development is that he thinks it will spoil the view from his golf course, the Trump International Links, which he opened in 2012. The supreme irony is that in building his golf course he trashed a large area of pristine and beautiful sand dunes which had been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
