Limp Sock

Windsock, that is.  I was indoors most of today, lecturing, but I came out for a few minutes at lunchtime to prepare today's Blip.  It was a drizzly day, low cloud (probably less than 100ft) with poor visibility.

I work next to a grass airfield, built during the Second World War, which is now used mostly by the flying club.  The extra photo is of the light aircraft parked near the clubhouse.  It must be galling to have spent a lot of cash on an aircraft and for it to be unusable whenever the weather is poor.
