My life in blips

Scottish Amateur FA Cup Final, Hampden, 1950

Today we chased the sun through to St Andrews to visit my mum and dad. Dad had been doing some clearing out and gave me old press clippings of a football match he played in on 14 May 1950, the Scottish Amateur FA Cup Final. He was playing for Queen's Park Hamden XI, Glasgow against Cupar Hearts from Fife.

I was interested to see the invitation to play for the team - very formal.  Not sure how it would be done nowadays!  Also, I liked the wee cartoon of the match and in particular, how my dad has drawn an arrow to show he was the player that won the penalty for the winning goal, scored with less than 30 seconds of the match remaining!
