Wood Anemone

I got wet on this dog walk, and even wetter lying down to take this blip, but such a lovely little woodland beauty.

Wood anemones are one of the first spring plants to flower, making use of the available light which penetrates the leafless canopy of deciduous woodlands across the UK.

The Wood Anemone is an attractive plant that often indicates the site of old woodland.

Each stem has a single, white, star-shaped flower, often flushed with pink or purple.
