We spent an enjoyable morning at Threlkeld mining quarry with the intention of dodging the forecast rain - which never materialised. This shot shows a striking galaxy of oil swirls caught in a stand pipe (see extra.)  Trust John to point out that the detritus in the middle are actually dead flies...

After lunch we went down to Ullswater where the water was calm and the light was soft and misty. Gorgeous stuff.
