Nature Reserve of the Year 2018

Well done Rodley Nature Reserve. Winner of BBC Countryside Magazine Nature Reserve of the Year 2018.
Massive triumph for the volunteers who maintain the site.
“ Right on the edge of Leeds this previously little-known wetland jewel brings the wild to a huge number of urban and suburban people as well as an important stop-over for migrant birds and a crucial breeding haditat for wildfowl, amphibians and invertebrates”.

After a foggy start, it cleared and we even had a little sun. Felt warm and Springlike.
The wildfowl were certainly in a Spring mood.
Lots of photos taken, but thought this one of the greylag goose carefully looking after her eggs summed up the day.
Extra of the little owl, which we often see hiding by one of the bird hides.
Good timing as it started raining just as we got back to the car.

Forgot to say WELL DONE to our girls netball team, who won Gold.
What a nail biting finish!
