The View from Here

The first day of the year for the garden.  The larks were rising, the peewits calling, but no snipes were drumming (despite us having donated a Dame Evelyn Glennie soundtape to the local RSPB branch). Also we had a flypast from a male hen harrier, the ravens croaked and pinked and the end-of-season long tailed ducks called.  A warmish breeze and the constant south east wind had eased.  So this is why the Current Mrs Creel and myself stayed at home rather than go and see the afternoon concert that we had tickets for.

Tonight is the last official night of the Ceilidh weekend although there are two dancing sessions tomorrow and also more on Tuesday.  After having danced on the 11 past days* we have to go cold turkey on Wednesday.

So today this is a quick pic from the garden of the Scapa Flow sparkle.  The bulk of Fara is just visible.  As I type a chilly haar has drifted in and all we hear is the low intermittent rumble of invisible shipping drifting by.

*I am gargling with Radox.
