Mono Monday - contrasts
These two large spoons contrast greatly.  One has been handed down through the family while the other is relatively modern.  The elaborate spoon embossed with displays of fruit is known as a berry spoon and would have been used for serving fruit while the other is used for serving fruit, vegetables or other food.  Being stainless steel it is easy to clean each time but the berry spoon needs to be regularly polished as it easily tarnishes so is very rarely ever used.   In the big houses of former days it must have been difficult work for the staff keeping such cutlery polished.
