The Dinny stones

Two stones weighing more than 300kg used for ballast during the maintenance of the nearby Potarch Bridge In Aberdeenshire were made famous by Donald Dinnie who managed to carry them across the width of the bridge in 1860. Donald was a stonemason as was his father Robert who also managed the feat. Since then they’ve become famous as the ‘Dinnie stones’. Since then a number of people have managed to emulate Donald, sadly I was not one of them!
