Nutclough Mill

On my journeys to and from Hebden Bridge, I regularly pass this wonderful old building - Nutclough Mill.
Originally a water-powered mill built at the end of the 18C, it was acquired by the Hebden Bridge Fustian Manufacturing Co-operative Society in 1872. The 300 workers were all part-owners and received a share of the profits. It was purchased by the Co-operative Wholesale Society in 1918. Fustian is a group of densely woven cotton cloths, including corduroy, moleskin and whipcord.

The Mill is now occupied by Calrec Audio who supply audio broadcast mixing consoles which are relied on by the world’s most successful broadcasters.
