Wide Wednesday: Beauty

My contribution to Wide Wednesday is a scene I pass frequently and often stop just to enjoy the beauty of the scene or even capture the odd blip. The parking spot is by a bridge (19C) that spans the River Ouse to give access to two villages. This view across the river is of the 13C church of St Mary’s. I find this view is one of great beauty and a lovely place to sit by the river and chill.
My extra is something I saw having got back in the car to depart. As I looked out of the window I saw this little wooden cross tied to barbed wire with a bow. It looks as though it’s been there for some time so I’m wondering why I’ve not seen it before? why was it placed there? and by whom?
