Dundee International Submarine Memorial

10.6C thin cloud with sunny spells.

Last day before Apothecary7 returns to work after our holiday. A short trip to City Quay in Dundee this morning. M&S cafe (very nice Lemon drizzle cake) then more purchasing of food.

The last time we had been looking for blips on the dockside we had noticed what turns out to be the Dundee International Submarine Memorial on the other side of the dock. Today we tried another road into the dock area and a short walk later found the memorial which commemorates the submariners that left from the docks in Dundee and never returned from their WWII patrols.

The memorial itself is a striking work of art with the outlines of submarines cut through a slab of rock. Today's blip is a close shot of one of the outlines, angled to fill the shape with the internal shading of the rock and the light coming through from the back.

Later we took Maeve the Deerhound (who had by then munched the little biscuits that the M&S cafe puts in the saucer of one's coffee cup) for her walk. We went down to Carnoustie High Street again. Back to the beach tomorrow perhaps ...
