Sunbeams

By Saffi

Sunny day!

I have refrained about talking about the farm for most of the summer because it has been a disaster!

Yesterday we at last harvested the maize without too much difficulty with a team of contractors and a tractor following the trailers in case they got stuck in the mud!
There have been many instances lately of machinery slipping and turning over in the fields not to speak of the mud on the roads transporting the maize from the field to the farmer's clamp. Farmers have to be very careful about this and set to cleaning it all up immediately because of causing motor accidents.

All the ploughing has yet to be done in the stubble fields. We shall probably have to plant the corn in the spring now as more rain is forecast. The cattle yards have not been cleaned out from last winter because when the weather has been dry T has been harvesting and busy with other priorities. The cattle now need to come in again but they will have to wait.

We are not the only ones in this situation, all over the country farmers are facing similar problems.
