Blossom Time

Walking round the Heras fencing of the demolition site this morning we found a few young Prunus trees in bloom, looking pretty against the blue sky. I have come to prefer the delicate beauty of this single variety over the larger, blowsey, double blossom, especially when contrasted with the deeper tone of the foliage.

I hope any redevelopment of the site preserves the trees, but, judging by the amount of granular polystyrene insulation material that has been allowed to lie uncollected, much of which will almost certainly drift down to the Braid Burn a few yards away, I fear that consideration of the environment is minimal.
