Existential moment ....

"It always seems impossible until it's done."  - Nelson Mandella

Day #2 of sloth like behaviour.  At least today I had an excuse for spending hours sprawled on the bed with both cats, laptop and other toys as I was watching the London marathon, mostly through tears (especially when Mo Farrah made it through the finishing line).  Why is that? Why do we cry?  (I know I am not the only one!!) Is it the public and unabashed display of human endurance? perseverance? determination? achievement? vulnerability? humility? camaraderie? humour? support? togetherness? kindness? love?  All of those things and more. There is something profoundly moving about this annual event isn't there?  - 40,000+ people running an excruciatingly painful 26 miles with stories that break the heart and fill the soul with all that is good and wonderful, buoyed up by thousands of standing strangers whose only goal is to support them on their road to success.  Inspiration in action, right before our eyes. For hours. Humanity at its finest.

Finally rolled out of the apartment and into the sunshine around 16.00 and hauled myself to the nearest bakkal local store to buy essentials - bread, beer, and cat food.  Took today's pic along the way.
