Bight of Laward

Compass Head shrouded in mist in the distance.

Picture was taken from the Scult of Laward, a little headland near Grutness harbour on the south east corner of the Shetland mainland.  If we had looked out into the mist at the right time, we might have see a pod of orca heading past.

On our morning walk from Grutness we found lots of uncollected plastic and miscellaneous beach debris - so in the afternoon we headed back to the same spot armed with suitable bags - that bit of the coastline is a little bit cleaner this evening than it was this morning. Having done that we rewarded ourselves with coffee and cake at Sumburgh Head - on the off-chance that the orca might return (they didn't).
