Emerging Marmots

..... above Leysin, this one with extra, sweet smelling daphne mezereon already flowering. I have never seen marmots emerging from their 7- 9 month hibernation before (see extra). They were quite far away and we did not dare disturb them as they are very vulnerable, at their sleepiest until they warm up and their heart rate goes up. They can't eat immediately as it takes about a week to re-form their gut flora. These ones were a long way from any food source too. I hope they survive.
