Parkhouse Hill

What a perfect day for a walk! We'd had the day planned for a while, and were very lucky with the weather. It wasn't as hot as it had been for the last couple of days, and there was a nice breeze too.

We'd started at the village of Earl Sterndale in the Peak District, and our first peak was High Wheeldon, which gave us great views over the whole of our walk. The next peak was one we passed and didn't climb - Parkhouse Hill. May be next time?

Our main climb up was Chrome Hill. It's not that high, but is a steep climb to the top. This is the view looking back along the ridge of Chrome Hill towards Parkhouse Hill with High Wheeldon in the background.

Once we'd climbed Chrome Hill, there was just one more ascent on the walk, before we returned to Earl Sterndale, and a well earned pint in The Quiet Woman pub.

The famous "double sunset" can be viewed in this part of the Peak District, nearby at Glutton Bridge around the summer solstice.
