Humpback whale

Superb conditions for our whale-watching trip from Stevenston Harbour today - no wind, so the sea was flat clam and the light was good. The captain spotted two humpback whales between Vancouver and Victoria and we spent an enjoyable hour watching them surfacing and diving again. We learned that when they surface they usually breathe about five times and then make a deeper dive, staying under for about five minutes. When they dive deep their tails often come out of the water.
