The day after Sandy

If you are really thankful, what do you do? You share.

millions without power...

Nelson and all his feathered and furred friends are fine. Chipmunks are safely tucked in their underground burrows with bulging larders anyway at this time of year. I've stocked those pantries well.

The wind has subsided, we're still having showers, but we came through the storm unscathed. One small limb down from the ancient pear tree, damp leaves everywhere, some pressed to the house by the fury of the wind, but no damage. Thankfully, no damage here or next door, or at my brother's house, what a blessing. Yesterday , during the storm, a neighbor 's house at the opposite side of Dogcorner, had smoke in the basement from a wiring problem. It was sorted out pretty quickly and the excitement was over as the wind picked up outside.

The sun is trying to break through, the air smells like damp leaves and the few left on the trees are glowing in the strange light. I have to check on other East Coast blipmates and watch the news in shock, NYC has really suffered as well as so many along the mid-Atlantic to New England coast. We are very very thankful.

For the Record,
This day came in calm, but dark and rainy after Sandy, a monster storm that treated us gently, but left so many suffering. The sun is trying to win over the clouds and rain, we'll see.
