Water shed

Haven't done a water tower picture for a while so here you are incase you forgot what it looked like.

Dad copied us in today on the comprehensive response he'd had from the palliative care team after requesting they look into 'what went wrong' in the last awful days of Mum's death.   His team were only one of many supportive services that were called upon to take care of Mum.

We are grateful for the time and trouble he has taken to respond and there are two sentences in the 7 page explanation that stood out for me.  They were:

"We receive well over a thousand referrals into the service a year and in the last 2 years, have had two incidents of missed referrals that we know about, one of which was Freda".

[After all the 'dignified death' planning - how breathtakingly unlucky was Mum]

"...I cannot fill in gaps that will allow a finger to be pointed at someone who will doubtless been hard pressed and human".

[And he's so right, we could see what dreadful pressure the NHS and social services are under]

I no longer feel angry about it, just very sad.
