The big cherry

This spreading flowering cherry graces one end of the village green at Hesket Newmarket.  I'm not a particular fan of cherry trees at any other time of year, but it can't be denied they are beautiful when in bloom.

That said, we do have both bird cherry and Gean, or wild cherry, in our wood to provide fruit for the birds in autumn.
