Valerie, 2011

What a tremendous surprise it is these days to run into former students. Today it was Valerie, a student of mine and a senior in 2011. Valerie’s class, 7th period Advanced Placement Literature and Composition, was one of the greatest classes I had the honor of teaching. I haven’t seen Valerie since she graduated then, so we had a lot of catching up. It’s funny, but after a short summary of what our lives are like now, we went back to those days in room 226, the magic that transpired there.

Sometimes it’s the kids of a class. Sometimes it’s the teacher.
Sometimes, it’s both.
Hard to explain the brilliance that happened when we all came together in that room for one school year. Thanks, Valerie. What a great student you were, and what a beautiful person you are now.
