Barns Ness Lighthouse

Lighthouses are strange affairs for us landlubbers - a location point which enables us to identify exactly where we are. For photographers they are often the full stop in an image beyond which the eye is not invited to travel. However, when you get close to them as I did today they retain something of their original drama.- a building set where it is hardest to build, a towering edifice which forces our eyes to look skyward.
I have tried to capture some of this in today's blip thanks to stormy weather and the wonders of Photoshop and Siver Efex Pro.

This particular lighthouse no longer is functioning as the shipping lanes run well away from the coast here. What ship would feel safe in running into a nuclear power station !! More the shame as they would make excellent photographic subjects for me, rather than specks on the horizon
