Anti (Auntie) Mari's funeral

Anti Mari died last Wednesday, and it was her funeral service today. She was known widely as Anti Mari throughout Wales and no doubt beyond. She was a member of our church, not an actual relative.

We had known her (and Uncle John her husband who died a 4 years ago) since shortly after we moved to Wales in 1990.

The service was largely in Welsh, and I was glad to be able to follow it reasonably well. Anti Mari was a Christian, and would have been pleased with the explanation of the hope of heaven that she had through faith in Jesus Christ. It was also good to hear about her life, as a young woman she had been involved in the early days of the Mudiad ~ The Movement, i.e. The Evangelical Movement of Wales. She has also written 3 books in Welsh which have also been translated into English and published in both languages. In them she draws out spiritual lessons from every day hill farm life.

After the service there was an unusual atmosphere for a funeral; many of the congregation had been uplifted by the reminder of the destiny that awaits believers in Jesus. Anti Mari was 96, and was ready to go "home". Her prayer was always that others would enter into this hope also.
