Des Reses

I got up at silly o'clock this morning to go on a birdsong training session. It was really enjoyable, although a bit of sunshine would have been nice. We saw one of my favourites - the Redstart. This nestbox is a new design especially for Redstarts, introduced to us by someone from the RSPB in Wales. It has a v shaped entrance, and gaps in the sides to enable them to have a better view. It will be interesting to see if it has any takers. In extras is a nestbox already occupied, but as yet, no eggs. The box has been used successfully a number of times by the incumbent Kestrel. As for Pied Flycatchers, we were beating them of with a stick. They had a very successful breeding year last year, so fingers crossed for this year.
