In the

good old days, we didn't have any of this free movement of goods nonsense: our British beer was protected from that foreign Spruce stuff, let alone Mum (who likes chrysanthemums in their pint, anyway?) . And we didn't want any of your amorphous carbon electrodes without a decent fee to the Treasury - we preferred a well-formed home-made article. Preferably connected with Insulated Callender's Cables. And you knew where they could stick their Hosiery Latch Needles. 

Yes, it's been a wet, chilly day of marking subtle variations in JavaScript -  I got bored,  so what better distraction than Whitaker's Almanac for 1932.
