Diary of an Edinburgher

Success!

Well, the new bedtime regime went well. After the first half dozen or so attempts to get on the bed, he gave a big loud sigh and settled down for the whole night. Good boy! This will be much easier for people looking after him.

Dead funny - every time I heard his wee claws click clacking on the wooden floor, I’d get up and put him back to bed, or mostly, he'd turn around himself when he saw me getting up. Then he got wise, and tip-toed. Yes, he figured out I could hear him, and took a couple of steps at a time, then paused, before taking a couple more. I had to be very hard-hearted to keep putting him back to his bed. And in fact, I got up much earlier than usual to take him for a cuddle on the sofa.

He was a lucky boy today - TWO big walkies! Becky and Daniel came in the morning, then Elizabeth came at midday. JR popped to the gym, but I didn’t manage. Tomorrow.

On our doggie-free afternoon, we decided to pop down to our favourite wee place for 'Mexican street food' (although it's nothing like any Mexican Street food we ever had when we were there). It was excellent. We got the window seat - right height, big cushions, and had very tasty items, including deep fried avocado, king prawns, black bean dip with nachos. All served with lovely little tacos.

We decided to share a bottle of wine, which was a good idea cost wise. Except that then the afternoon was a washout... JR had intended making some nice nibbles for Elizabeth when she came back with Archie, but we both fell asleep.

But what a lovely day it was, coming across the Links - you can even see the new (Italian leather) handbag if you look closely. We made slow progress. It was the furtherest I’ve walked without a stick since I fell off the ladder...

Archie should be really ready for his own bed tonight after all that exercise. (Extra)
