MAKE DO & MEND

Yes, born in1940 - I belong to that generation.

Back in the days when parcels were tied up with string, my mother would never cut the string - she would painstakingly unpick the knots & coil up the result & squirrel it away. At her death she left a small kitchen drawer full of these wee coils.

There was another drawer full of paper bags!

Won't show you my efforts with needle & thread today - may be a right smartarse with a chisel, but give me a needle & I'm pretty hopeless!
