The Daphne Blip

This is one of my annual blips, one of the signs that the seasons are rolling around. It is Daphne Mezereum. The flowers come very early, usually when there is still snow on the ground. It's a very pretty plant and perhaps especially so this early in the spring, when it is one of the first flowers to be seen.
It may be an early flower but not as early as usual. I blipped it in 2015, on the 15 April, and on the 25 march in 2016.
Our record snowfall this winter is now showing how tough some plants are. Tulip shoots have shoved the snow aside, the melting snow reveals rhubarb already above the earth, and crocuses are in flower two days after their patch of earth is open to the light. It  really is amazing to experience.
