Gannets

It's rare to see the gannets close to shore but shortly after they return from Africa the birds engage in gathering seaweed to build their nests and come close to the beach.   It's a sight I never tire of and P and I sat and watched them for while at high tide this afternoon.   It's amazing how much seaweed they can carry - I suspect judging by the takeoff speed some of them have to jettison their cargo before reaching the Bass.

A couple of extras to add to the story.
