Try again

This island is . . . .

. . . the Holm of Papay, which is no longer inhabited. It lies just off Papa Westray, which lies just off Westray, which is off the Orkney mainland, which, of course, lies north of the mainland of Britain.   The British Isles lie just off the European mainland ..... and so on.  No man is an island?

Our visit is in the lambing season and so we could not get onto the Holm, but we did visit the Knap of Howar  - the oldest known domestic building in North Western Europe.  Fantastic. Worth all the island hopping just to see it.
