Cragside

After a damp start we decided on a trip to Cragside near Rothbury. This is a National Trust property and was the first place in the world to be powered by Hydro Electricity.

We wanted to try the Armstrong trail but were told they no longer did leaflets but could look in the map room for ideas. The general map we had was not really informative but we decided to have a wander up to the Lakes and back. Fascinating to explore the paths that weaved in and out of crags with views of the hills and Rothbury. Such a shame that they are not better mapped.

Struggled to decide on the main blip. Went with the front facade and bridge but was drawn to the rear view which shows so many interesting levels and chimneys. From where I stood to take the main photo the second extra shows the view back from whence we came.

Really enjoying Northumberland.
