Large red....Don't mind if I do!

After it had finally finished raining mid afternoon today I was showing someone round the pond at work when I noticed this newly hatched Large red damselfly clinging manfully to a rush stem. Poor wee thing, it must have hatched earlier in the day when it was literally pouring with rain!!
Luckily it was still there a few minutes later and agreed to a quick photo shoot.
The Large red damselfly Pyrrhosoma nymphula is common throughout the UK and is usually the first damselfly I see each spring!
