Ranks of Kaura

Today we went down to Warkworth, and visited the Parry Kauri Park and museum.  There was a superb boardwalk through an excellent Kauri forest.  None of the trees could compete with the two really huge ones we saw yesterday, but the overall effect was actually much better.  We were surrounded by a multitude of these trees, with their accompanying undergrowth.

The little museum was also worth a few minutes.  But the range of souvenirs was poor.

So we then popped down to the Honey centre for coffee and a snack, before deciding that we were feeling too lazy to bother with the second walk we had considered (to a small waterfall).  We returned to Warkworth, looking for a souvenir shop - today is our last day, and we'd been so restrained we had hardly anything to take home as memories!

Warkworth was a sad disappointment in this regard - there were a couple of very arty gift shops, but no "souvenir" shops.  We ended up driving about 70km back to the Kauri Museum we had visited yesterday, where we spent rather a lot of money on various wooden items that took our fancy.

Now packing, and drinking the last of the gin, ready for an early start tomorrow morning.
