The Lozarithm Lens

The Old Forge (Friday 4th May 2018)

It turns out that the two frogs in my pond are actually toads! They are Malcolm and Sid, and little Sid was in evidence today during Gardening Friday with Refna. It was a busy morning with plug plants, bare root plants, pot plants, plants in tubs, all to be potted on or planted out.

The sporadic warm weather has brought the garden on and the young maple tree leaves have been gradually flattening out and the initial salmon pink is already fading away, so I photographed them from the study window before they were completely green. As you can see the cotinus is beginning to come out, though at its current rate it will be several days before the leaves have completed their transition.

In other news I'm fairly certain I fleetingly caught sight of my first siskin on one of the feeders early this morning.

Having recently acquired Miles Davis' Milestones album it was appropriate to hear the original of one of the album's pieces when Radcliffe and Maconie played it on 6 Music.
