Postcard from Waipara Valley

Sure was a lovely warm but windy day with around 20c.

I was just about to go out and take a walk around the city when John suggested we take a drive out to Waipara. The wind at times was gale force at Waipara but it was warm. Great to get out into the county for a short time.

First stop was Terrace Edge winery which is is a boutique family estate in the Waipara Valley, committed to producing hand-crafted wine and extra virgin olive oil of premium quality. The wines were really good there. The shots Bottom Left and Right were taken at the wineyard.

Next we visited Greystone winery. Greystone draws its name from the unique limestone conglomerate that they find as the bedrock on which their vine roots grow in. A limestone mix of fossils, sea shells and small pebbles that have been fused together through the seismic movement of North Canterbury. Over time this ancient seabed has been pushed and folded upwards to form the Teviotdale Hills.

We had a Cheese broad at Greystone, while we were tasting their wines. The Shot Top Left from taken from there.

Before heading back to Christchurch we visited Black Estate Winery.
