Cuckoo Flower

Also known as Lady’s Smock and in some parts of the country as Milkmaids or May flower.
Scientific name Cardamine pratensis.

In many parts of the country the date of its coming into flower was said to coincide with the first hearing of the Cuckoo. Sadly in Arnside I have not heard a Cuckoo for many years.
