A Day At A Time.

La Garganta Del Capitán

We thought we'd take a little stroll in the country to some waterfalls we'd heard about.

The road ran out of tarmac first and then mettle soon afterwards and became impassable 3 km from our destination, according to St. Google, the patron saint of travellers.

So we walked and walked and thanks to some helpful hikers, we went in the right direction. If you didn't know where you were going, you would never find the falls. No signs or anything helpful like that.

Three kilometres along a farm track and then we had to descend like mountain goats into the gorge below. We could hear the water, but it was only when we arrived at the bottom that the beauty of the scene was revealed. The Captain's Throat.

Duke had a swim and we had a drink and and a rest and then climbed back up the steep hillside to the track above to return to our car.

But it was well worth it and I dare say we shall do it again.
