Rosslyn Chapel

An augmented St Baldred's choir sang evensong at Rosslyn Chapel (also known as the collegiate church of St Matthew) this evening.
The chapel was built in the mid 15th century but fell into ruin following the Scottish Reformation (1560) and the destruction of its altars in 1592. Queen Victoria visited Rosslyn Chapel in 1842 and expressed a desire that it should be restored. Some work was done but the main restoration work took place after the chapel was featured in Dan Brown's novel the Da Vinci Code. It is now a tourist attraction but there is a Scottish Episcopal congregation who worship there every week.
It is also famous for the very detailed carving on one of the pillars known as the apprentice pillar.
Photography is not allowed inside the chapel so the blip is of the detail over the west door.
