Gloriously mono Melrose

What an absolutely glorious day and weekend in Scotland. We headed home today and at the last minute I took the executive decision to cut across country and head to Melrose Abbey. Neither of us had ever been before so was a real treat. The trip over was fab, with lots of photo stops as well as a coffee and cream scone at 'The big Red Barn' cafe (to those Kiwi's amongst you, we had to stop there for coffee because it was a namely reminder of our favourite cafe in Murchison)  
Melrose Abbey was a great stop off too, helped mutely by the 27 degree weather! I got some cracker full colour shots but really liked the black and white version. 
We also called in to see some friends in the North East on the way home and finally rolled in at 8.30pm (having set off at 10.30am, on a strictly speaking 4.5 hour trip)
