Tree Peony

We refer - sometimes - to this tree peony as "My/Your Mother" because I was with my mother when I bought it, possibly as much as 20 years ago, at the nursery that Monticello has (or had - it's been a while since I've been there) near its parking area and visitor's center. I was envious of the one she had in her garden - so when I saw one there I snapped it up. And also because - more because - when I scattered my half of her ashes in 2005, it was at the base of this plant that I placed them. The other half is in my brother's flower garden, I believe.

So along with a whole lot of other things, my mother burst into bloom while I was in West Virginia, and she's looking lovely.
