Glass pyramid

In 1991-1992 the visitor center Primosa was built for 9.5 million guilders. For this building, the pyramid, a dilapidated barn had to yield for which 250,000 guilders were paid. The costs of the pyramid were borne by eight local municipalities and the province. In May 1992 the pyramid was opened, the building served as a Limburg museum and for art exhibitions under the name Roccoco.

After five months it appeared that the expected flow of visitors did not materialize and they asked for bankruptcy. Initially it had been estimated at 150,000, and later 200,000 visitors per year. In the six months that the pyramid was open, only 15,000 visitors came.

On 17 June 1993, the pyramid was auctioned for an amount of 260,000 guilders and was purchased by the owner who had sold his shed at the time.

This was a real fiasco and miscalculation. Real money waste.
